Alright, friends, it’s that time of year again—crisp air, cozy sweaters, and a home that practically begs you to curl up on the couch with a hot tasty beverage. But before you start panic-buying pumpkin-spice candles, let’s talk about some fall décor trends that’ll help you pull in that ambiance.
Simmer Pots
Okay so this is my all-time favorite fall home hack. Put some water in a pot, add your favorite fall scents (I will definitely do a blog post for simmer pot recipes now that I'm thinking about it) simmer and fill your home with an irresistible aroma of autumn. I typically throw in some cinnamon sticks, orange peels/slices and some vanilla extract.
Plaid
Plaid is like the official, unofficial pattern of fall. It’s cozy, it’s classic, and it makes you feel like you should be sipping cider in a log cabin somewhere. Whether it’s a throw blanket or a throw pillow, plaid’s is a must. If you're feeling extra fancy, a plaid tablecloth will do.
Pro Tip: Don't overdo it unless you're going for the “lumberjack chic” look. One or two plaid pieces is just right.
Wood
A wooden coffee table, some rustic picture frames, a cute wooden tray for your hot cider... you get the picture. Wood accents bring the outdoorsy fall feels right into your home.
Pro Tip: Going for real wood or reclaimed pieces are great options because they're eco-friendly and chic. It’s good for the planet and your Instagram aesthetic.
Warm, Earthy Color Palettes
When I think of Fall, I think of deep, earthy tones. Burnt orange, mustard yellow, burgundy, shades of brown. No need to do an overhaul, a throw blanket here and a some fall colored pillows there goes along way.
Chunky Textures
Fall is all about making your home feel like a warm, giant hug. Think chunky knit blankets, velvet pillows, and faux fur throws.
Dried Florals
Bouquets of dried flowers and pampas grass are basically nature’s way of saying, “Hey, you don’t have to water me.” They’re low maintenance, add a little autumn charm, and won’t die after a week. Just get a pretty vase and voila.
Let's Talk Pumpkins
Yes, pumpkins are the fall décor item and there's so many unique options out there now rather than the traditional orange pumpkin. Blue, green and white pumpkins, velvet pumpkins, sequined pumpkins, whatever your thing is, bring in that tradition and spice it up.
